Youth Partecipation Activities

OVERVIEW:

Starting from the evident disillusionment of young Italians in terms of politics, well demonstrated precisely by the low turnout, the project will develop educational pathways for young people aged 17 to 21 with the overall objective of promoting a more informed and aware approach to political engagement and, consequently, greater involvement in the run-up to the 2024 European elections, so that young people take a more active role as Italian and European citizens.The project will focus on 6 regions (Piedmont, Veneto, Campania, Sicily, Apulia and Calabria). It will be based on Non Formal Education methods, placing young people and their opinions at the center and promoting constructive dialogue on a range of topics that impact civic and political activation. The project will be able to dissect issues such as lack of knowledge of electoral systems and procedures, skepticism about political parties, and difficulty discerning reliable sources of information.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

Build safe and inclusive spaces for meeting and expression in accordance with democratic and participatory principles;
Ensure fair access to quality, impartial and appropriate information for young people on how the EU works and how to participate in it, particularly in terms of elections;
Educating young people on their role as actors capable of influencing politics and democratic life;
Ensuring that young people have better access to reliable information, supporting their ability to critically evaluate informations and engage in participatory and constructive dialogue.

OUTPUT:

3 ROUND OF LOCAL EVENTS: Each Local Event will target 15 people for a total of 90 youth who will be directly involved.
SURVEY: Conducted online nationwide through a data collection form and refined by local discussion focus groups. The survey will focus on data on participation in the last Italian general elections and forecasts of participation with respect to the European elections.
NATIONAL MOBILITY: Residential exchange at the hostel "Il Paguro" , located at a confiscated property and aimed at 20 people
INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY: Visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg in order to get to know more closely the places of European Democracy and to be able to critically examine fundamental aspects of participation from a youth perspective, so as to be able to elaborate and develop their own manifesto.
